We Luke 7: 11-17
God, Give Me Your Love And Compassion For Others.
Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As Jesus approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out. He was the only son of the mother, who was a widow. There was a large crowd with the widow. Jesus felt compassion for the widow and said, “Don’t cry.” He went up to the dead son on the bier (the frame he was carried on) and said, “Young man, I say to you, get up!” The dead man sat up and began to talk and Jesus gave him back to his mother.
The people were all filled with awe and they praised God. They called Jesus a prophet from God. And news about Jesus and what he did spread throughout Judea and the surrounding country.
When Jesus was filled with compassion, there was nothing he couldn’t do. So he raised the dead man to life resulting in praises to God, and people sharing the good news all over the areas.
Jesus’s miracle pointed people to God and resulted in praises. What miracles is God doing in each of our lives? Do we recognize them or are we too busy focusing on the “negative” things in life? Perhaps the negative things in life are only evidence of the upcoming miracles. Also, as a testimony, do we share with others what God is doing?
Lord, give me your love and compassion for others so that I am both aware of needs and respond to meet needs. More than likely, news won’t go throughout all the Pennsylvania on what I did, but there will be one life who is appreciative and impacted.
God, give me opportunities to show your love and compassion to others.
