Mesmerized. Perfect. Unique.
The man speaks beautiful words of his lover’s features. He’s mesmerized by her appearance. He declares her as the “perfect one” and “unique.”
What makes you become mesmerized by someone else’s appearance? When I was single, I worked in Washington DC for 8 weeks for school credit. One of my duties was to work in a soup kitchen. Two young ladies worked there, both my age. Sue was VERY PRETTY by humans standards. Kathy was cute but not as pretty as Sue, again by human standards. However, if I had to choose which one mesmerized me most, it was Kathy and not Sue. Kathy’s love for Jesus was so real and transparent. She was a Godly young lady and exemplified the love of Christ unto others. She was the real deal. It is those features that will attract me and most likely mesmerize me. When looking for a wife, a Christ follower is what was most important to me. If that was lacking, then she wasn’t an option. May this be an important option for all of us especially when looking for the right marriage partner. Karin was the one that captured my heart and mesmerized me. And now, after 36 years of marriage, I want to continue to have this mesmerized love for her. I want her to feel like she’s the “Perfect One” and very “Unique.”
Lord, help me to have the qualities that I value so much in my mate. May I be the role model of Christ-like behaviors. May people see Jesus in me. May my wife see and experience Christ’s love from me. May she feel like she’s the Perfect One, Very Unique! Amen!
