Second Kings Chapter 25
Are You Spiritually Famished?
The Israelites did not serve the living God and eventually the Babylonians, the enemy, were able to penetrate the wall of protection and destroy the Israelites inside the city. The enemy had camped outside the city walls for 2 years and waited until the people were famished with no food left and then they broke through the gate and killed the king of Judah and the people living there.
1 Peter 5:8 says “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
The devil is camped outside the walls of our hearts and if we are not invested in the Lord with all our hearts, then we become spiritually weaker and weaker. Eventually we will become famished spiritually so that at our weakest moment, the devil is able to break through our spiritual wall and deceive us into an increasing life without Christ.
At that time, we become susceptible to false doctrines and susceptible to the worldly pleasures. And our overall committed hearts for the Lord is weakened while the lies of the world are grasped a hold of.
1 Peter 5:8 says to be ALERT. The devil is camped outside your heart and is patiently waiting to catch you at a very weak spiritual moment. Then he will attack.
CHALLENGE: Stay connected to the Lord 100% through his Word and through Christian fellowship. Remember Philippians 4:13 that says greater is Christ who lives in US than the devil who lives in the world. Stop thanking you can do this on your own. You can’t. You need the Holy Spirit and your brothers and sisters in Christ.
