Second Kings Chapter 1
Arrogancy Kills!
The king of israel, King Ahaziah, became ill and sent Messengers to the god of Ekron to see if he would live or die from his sickness. As The Messengers left, Elijah the prophet of God, met The Messengers and said, tell your king because he has rejected God in Israel and turn to false gods he will surely die and not recover from his sickness. When they told this to King Ahaziah, twice the king sent an army of 50 people demanding Elijah come to him. Both times the leader of the 50 men, demanded he come as if to say we are in charge, and Elijah, you are nothing. So Elijah called down fire from God upon the first two groups of 50 men and they were consumed by fire.
The third group of 50 men didn’t come with arrogancy. The captain of the 50 was very humble before Elijah and bowed before him asking for Mercy for their lives and asked Elijah to come and see the king. So Elijah went with them and told the King that he would surely die because of his arrogancy to reject God and put Faith in something different. And the King did die.
Arrogancy eventually kills. You can only go so long in rejecting God and rejecting his people before you end up facing consequences for your decisions. Once you become arrogant, putting faith in one’s self or in other things of the world, you end up rejecting the God Almighty. Eventually your decisions are motivated by your arrogancy. And unless you become broken and humble before God, you will eventually die in your arrogancy.
Thank good and hard! Are you giving less attention to the one and only true God and more emphasis on yourself? Are you putting your trust in worldly things or in God Almighty? Please approach God in humility and choose to follow him only. To follow God means you’re letting him lead you versus you leading your own life.
Choosing to let God lead your life takes humility on your part. Choosing to lead your own life takes arrogancy. Remember, arrogancy eventually kills.
