Second Chronicles Chapter 4
A Sacrifice Had To Be Made.
Solomon had the altar built in the temple along with all the furnishings. The altar was the place to make sacrifices to the Lord. Most sacrifices that were made were done for the forgiveness of sins. This was a temporary solution to the sin problem. God had promised a coming sacrifice, Jesus His Son, who would make a sacrifice, once and for all, for the forgiveness of sins for all humankind.
The altar was where the animals were sacrificed and their blood was shed for the forgiveness of sins. The cross is where Jesus was sacrificed and he also shed his blood for the forgiveness of our sins. He took on our punishment when he was beaten and whipped without Mercy.
May we daily be willing to take up our cross and be willing to die to our self will and live a new life in Christ. May we serve him with all of our hearts. What Jesus did for us should motivate and inspire us to want to live for him 100% each day. May our actions not mock what he did at the cross for us. Forgive me Lord when my selfish acts belittle your unselfish act of love at the cross. Help me serve you daily and not be ashamed; and help me not to focus on my selfish pleasures but focus on that which will please you. Amen.
