Second Chronicles chapter 35
Don’t Be Hasty!
King Josiah was a righteous King and was careful to obey all the laws and commands of the Lord. He was a great leader for the Israelites.
But on one occasion, King Neco of Egypt was going into war against Carchemish. When King Josiah heard this, he assumed that because it was “Egypt” that they were the evil ones and he decided to go into battle against Egypt. But it was God’s will to send Egypt against Carchemish. King Neco told King Josiah, God has sent me to this battle so don’t interfere or you will die. But he did not listen and went into battle and died.
Wow! Here we have a righteous King, who is consistent in obeying the word of the Lord. But this one time, he disobeyed and lost his life.
A lesson to learn from this is don’t be hasty with your assumptions and decisions until you have all the facts and have carefully went before the Lord seeking his wisdom and will for the given situations.
Lord help me not make Hasty assumptions and decisions about someone. But rather help me take everything to you in prayer, seeking your will!
