Second Chronicles Chapter 32
Is Your God Really Big Enough?
King Sennacherib of Assyria had plans to invade Judah in Jerusalem. King Hezekiah encouraged his people to not be afraid or dismayed because he said the Lord was with them and not with a Assyria. The king of Assyria did everything he could do to discourage the people of Judah. He mocked and made fun of King Hezekiah and the Lord God. He said no Kingdom and no god has ever defeated him and said nor shall the God of Judah defeat him.
In brokenness, King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet went before the Lord and prayed for God’s help. As a result, God sent an angel who destroyed every Assyrian warrior so that the king of Assyria returned to his home in shame. When he returned, some of his children killed him.
It is difficult to describe how impossible of a situation Judah was in. But when King Hezekiah and Isaiah the prophet came to God in brokenness and prayed, God answered and brought a victory for them.
CHALLENGE: Some things we can learn from King Hezekiah for our own lives.
1. Be faithful to God. God responds to those who walk faithfully with him.
2. Those who are faithful leaders will gain the respect of followers.
3. When you go to God, humble yourself before him. Don’t let pride or arrogance enter your heart.
