Second Chronicles Chapter 23
Are We On The Verge Of A Real Reformation?
After the death of King Ahaziah, his wicked mother Athaliah murdered many potential offspring that could become king, except the one child, Joash, who was hidden from her. As he grew, Jehoiada gathered Joash, an army of men, and all the priest leaders in Judah to establish Joash on the throne of Judah as king. Jehoiada wanted to ensure the kingdom would be established before the Lord as HOLY. Then the army leaders killed Athaliah and her followers for their wickedness.
A Reformation was in the making. All of Judah made a covenant with the Lord God, the people tore down the house of the false god Baal and all its altars and killed the priests of Baal.
A Reformation occurred meaning the Lord God was re-established in the hearts of the people. God used Jehoiada to lead the people in this reformation.
Am I ready and willing to let God use me to lead a Reformation? A true leader has to have a hatredness for sin, not for a person, but for the sin. They must be willing to promote the truth of the Lord encouraging, first themselves to get right with God, then their family, and then the church.
Once a person of the church starts to go down the path of a false teaching, then eventually a whole family could become corrupt, and eventually a whole denomination of churches could become corrupt.
God help me hate sin and live out your truth in a world that hates you. Protect me and others who are willing to stand up for you and your word. Help us live it and speak your truth in love but with confidence and boldness so as to see a true Reformation. However, may it start with me first.
