Ruth Chapter 1
I’m Depressed.
Naomi, her husband, and her two sons leave Bethlehem, the city of God, and moved to Moab a godless city because of a famine in Bethlehem. They leave full of love and life.
Eventually, the two sons marry 2 Moabite women named Orpha and Ruth. Over a period of 10+ years, Naomi’s husband and two sons died leaving all three women widowed.
Naomi becomes very depressed and makes several comments about how God is against her and is dealing bitterly with her. Saying her life is empty, and God is afflicting her.
When something terrible happens in life it’s hard not to be depressed and feeling hopeless or empty. It’s easy to blame God. It’s easy not to have anything to do with God. It’s easy to feel a sense of hopelessness and anger when bad things happen. But God still loves us and feels our pain and wants to help us through the pain back into a life of joy. Don’t ever give up on life because it is valuable. Don’t ever give up on God for he wants to deliver you from hopelessness and depression.
God says evil will happen in life because we live in a world of sin. We will fall victim to such evil but God came to set us free through Christ. Don’t give up! Turn to Christ! Turn to Godly counsel from a Christian leader or friend. Every 12 seconds someone commits suicide. Don’t give up! You’re worth it!
