Romans Chapter 12

Making Spiritual Sacrifices With Our Lives.

Paul is urging the Christians to offer their bodies as a living sacrifice. When the Jews offered animal sacrifices they had to follow strict guidelines because God didn’t want sloppy and deformed sacrifices. The same with us. He wants our lives to be a holy and pleasing sacrifice.

And Paul encourages them by saying that a holy and pleasing sacrifice is one that is not conformed to the pattern of this world. Once we start living like the rest of the world, then we become an unclean sacrifice to God. A sacrifice that is Holy and pleasing is an open invitation for God to have control in and through our lives.

Paul then mentions a number of examples we can follow:

1. Be humble and use your gifts to the fullest.

2. Be willing to associate with those of low position. Why? Because they need to feel valuable and important. Are worth should never be based upon our status or position, but by God! If we exist, then we are God’s beautiful Creation with great value, great worth, and great purpose. When we associate with the lowly ones we remind them of their value, worth, and purpose.

3. Lastly, don’t seek revenge. That’s God’s job. Our job still love our enemies by meeting their needs.
