Revelation Chapter 3
“WAKE UP!!!”
In Chapter 3, we read the final three letters sent to the final three churches. Instead of highlighting one comment from each church I’m just going to focus on one comment that I think relates to all three churches!
The people in the Church of Sardis have a reputation of being spiritual but they are dead spiritually. It’s easy to fool people about our faith but we can never fool God.
When I was a senior in high school, I was coming home from the prom 3:00 a.m. I fell asleep at the wheel and was in a dream state. In my dream state I hear the words, “WAKE UP!!!” I immediately open my eyes and saw that I had went into the other lane and headed for the ditch. I was able to get control of the vehicle and get home safely. If I didn’t wake up I could have been hurt badly or even killed.
That’s what Jesus is saying to this church: “WAKE UP!!!” Or you will die spiritually!
God tells the Church to strengthen their spiritual life before it dies. He asked them to remember their faith in Christ and make it real and repent of sins.
It’s so easy to get sidetracked from our faith. May we all WAKE UP and evaluate our areas of weaknesses and truly get right with the Lord!
