Read Zephaniah Chapter 2
The Call To Gather, To Repent, and To Seek.
1. The Call To Gather: God calls for Nations to gather themselves together, those who show no shame for their sins. He’s calling us as well to gather our hearts before him and be real about where our walk with Christ really is. Do we show no shame for our sins?
2. The Call To Repent: Those who gather, he warns them to repent of their sin or face His coming Wrath. The fact that he calls them to repent is a sign of his love for them and a sign that he takes no pleasure in showing his Wrath. God warns them ahead of time because he loves them. But it is also a reminder of why it’s so important to be holy before God. God cannot have sin in his presence so it must be removed. It’s when we repent of our sins and, in humility, SEEK forgiveness through a RELATIONSHIP with JESUS.
3. The Call To Seek: When we seek the Lord Jesus, we are seeking his righteousness in humility. When we do this we take our Focus off from the pleasures of our flesh and put it on the pleasures of the Lord God. That’s when true repentance occurs, and that’s when transformation into a new life for Christ occurs. Are you seeking the Lord and his righteousness in humility?
CHALLENGE:
With each choice you make today, see if it centers around your flesh desires or God’s desires. Colossians 3:17 says, “And whatever you do, whether in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Let everything we do be done for the Lord and not our flesh.
