Read Zechariah Chapter 14
The Hope and Holiness of the Messiah.
God will one day gather all the nations against Jerusalem who will take their spoil. It will be a brutal battle against the city, their houses, and their women. Half the city will go into captivity. But just when it seems there is no hope, the Messiah will return to the Earth for a 1,000 years.
During this time, the earth is renewed, there is no war or death, and the righteous reign with Christ. Jesus personally rules on Earth, and Jerusalem will become a prosperous and influential city again.
Those who are left during the millennium, thousand years, will Worship the Lord. But there will be some who will not and those who do not will suffer consequences.
Ultimately the Lord will make all things holy including the most insignificant things.
What we don’t realize in our world today, is that Jesus is Our Hope and Holiness is important.
While we await the coming return of Christ, we cannot let the things of this world take away our hope. We must daily pursue the heart of God and not pursue the pleasures of this world. Holiness is what God calls us to. And one day all things will be made holy again. But until that occurs, we have the responsibility to make holiness the most important thing in our lives as followers of Christ. As God told Moses in Leviticus 19:1-2: “Speak to all my people and say to them be Holy because the Lord your God is Holy.”
And don’t forget, Earth is not our final destination. God promises to be with us till the day we part from this Earth into an eternal home. Make Jesus your hope for today and for tomorrow.
