How Do You Define Victory In Your Life?
The Lord God has a word for Israel, but the prophet establishes who this Lord is. He isn’t just an idol placed upon a mantle to be worshiped. He isn’t a god that has no power. No, this is the Lord God who “Stretches out the heavens, lays the foundations of the earth, and forms the spirit of man within him.” It’s this God that when he speaks we should listen. It’s this God that we can put our 100% trust into. Who else can do what he has done?
It’s this God who said Jerusalem is going to be attacked by their enemies but God will protect his people and cause their enemies to be destroyed.
Judah will become like David in their fighting abilities, their courage, and success. This is a powerful statement because the people of Judah were weak and broken.
God said a day is coming when he will pour out on his people the Spirit of Grace, meaning Jesus, and cause the people to seek the favor of the Lord in humility. They will look at Jesus whom they have pierced and they will realize that Jesus is the Son of God, the Savior of the world. Jesus will become their coming victory.
Are we struggling and feeling we are held captive by the enemy? The Lord is coming to your defense. He’s establishing an upcoming victory. It’s in his plans. But when Victory doesn’t come immediately it doesn’t mean it’s not coming. God has a work to do in our lives to build us up where we need to be.
We define VICTORY as something that occurs when our struggles and pain stop.
But VICTORY is more than that. Victory is also the growth we experience when we go through our struggles and pain. If we could see Victory as more than just the stopping of something, then we wouldn’t be so anxious against God for his delay in stopping our pain. But we would thank Him for loving us enough to walk through the pain with us so that we can become more like Jesus.
