Read Zachariah Chapter 3.
Rebuke the Accuser in Jesus Name.
God showed Zechariah the high priest, Joshua, who is standing before the angel of the Lord. Satan was standing to his right and was accusing Joshua of all his sins. But the Lord rebuked Satan. But why wouldn’t he? Because God loved Joshua and chose him to do his work.
Satan loves to accuse us of all our sins. He wants to destroy our relationship with Jesus. He wants us to feel inadequate and worthless. Just as God rebuked Satan on behalf of Joshua, so he rebukes Satan on our behalf. God has chosen us to follow him, and love him, and do his work. God wants to protect us from the evil one. II Thessalonians 3:3 says, “But the Lord is faithful and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”
We have to recognize God’s authority and it would be to our benefit if we spoke to the devil in the authority of Christ and not in our own authority. Often, we need to rebuke the devil in the name of Jesus over our lives. He has no right over us. So when Satan begins to remind you of your past, take authority in Jesus name, rebuke him, and remind the devil of his future. He has no authority over you.
It says that Joshua stood accused while wearing filthy clothes which represented the sin in his life. But God commanded that all the filth be removed from Joshua, all of his sins, and then clothed him in a festal robe. A robe that deems a person Worthy to celebrate before the Lord.
Are you standing before God in Brokenness having been accused by the devil of your past sins? Or even your current sins you’re still struggling with? Is it hard for you to understand the grace and mercy and love of God? Is it hard for you to accept the power God has to forgive you and cleanse you from all sins?
Call out to God for forgiveness and receive not just his forgiveness but to be cleansed and made righteous before him. Even to celebrate the newness of your life for Christ.
He’s calling you to follow him faithfully. Follow his ways and perform acts of service for his name sake.
