Read Proverbs Chapter 6
Decisions That Get Us Into Trouble.
Solomon addresses an issue where somebody makes a bad decision and then gives advice to overcome the results of the bad decision.
He says if you choose to help a person get a loan by putting up security (pledging to pay their loan if they fail to make it happen), then you become trapped in this agreement. You made a bad decision! Now what do you do?
Solomon gives three suggestions which could be applied to every bad decision we make.
1. Humble Oneself. Admit you made a mistake. Don’t play the blame game.
2. Take Responsibility For Your Own Actions. I love and respect a person a lot more who can humbly admit they made a mistake versus the person who, in arrogance, acts as if they are perfect.
3. Do Something About It. Solomon says don’t be lazy. Be like the ant who works very very hard.
There’s no bad decision that you and God can’t work through. Some have harsher consequences but he can help us work through any and every situation. Trust me, it will take a great deal of humility. The consequences of your decision may be exposed to others, but with your humble heart and taking responsibility and seeking God on what to do, in due time, God can help you and restore you or restore your circumstances.
Sometimes, just saying I’m sorry is enough. Saying I’m sorry never hurt anyone except our pride.
