Read Proverbs Chapter 5
Don’t Commit Adultery. Don’t Be Unfaithful.
Solomon speaks to his son and wants him to pay attention as he addresses the issue of adultery between a man and a woman. This can easily be applied to our relationship with the Lord God. Not only should we be faithful to our spouse but also faithful to our God.
Just as a woman may try to entice a man to be unfaithful to his wife, so the devil tries to entice us into the pleasures of this world so that we become unfaithful to the Lord. And if he can’t entice us with “sweet” words, then he destroys us with lies that tear us down so we feel unworthy of God’s goodness. Such lies include making us feel unforgiven from past sins that God has already forgiven. He overwhelms us with feelings of guilt and shame.
We are told to stay on the Lord’s path. Don’t lose focus of who you really are in Christ.
May we also take heed to Solomon’s words to enjoy our relationship with our spouse. And may we also enjoy our relationship with the Lord, even more. His love for us is greater than any love we could receive from any human being. May God help us remove any obstacles that stand between us and Him. Have a great day!
