Read Proverbs Chapter 13
Shame on You! Shame on Me!
In verse 5, it says, “The wicked bring shame upon themselves.”
When I first read this I just concluded this verse didn’t apply to me. Perhaps it applies more than I wish it did. I’m a follower of Christ! I Love Jesus and I love people! I’m a “good” Christian. Yes, I do love Jesus. And yes, I do love people. But that doesn’t mean I never sin. I don’t ever want to become like the Pharisees who said, “God, thank you I’m not like the real bad sinners. Thank you God that I go to church, and I tithe, and I blah blah blah.” The Pharisees were self-righteous and acted as if they never sinned. I don’t ever want to get like that and end up thinking I’m better than everyone else. Because I’m not. Everyday there are thoughts that I have or things that I do I’m sure God is not happy with. God, forgive me of all my sins and remove all my guilt and shame so I can walk in fullness with you.
