Read Obadiah Chapter 1
Arrogance and Entitlement Go Hand In Hand.
God gives Obadiah a vision concerning the Edomites. God says to the Edomites, “I will make you small among the Nations and you’ll be utterly despised.”
The Edomites had a problem: they were arrogant and God goes into great detail on how he would destroy them and remove them from the Earth forever. This was fulfilled in 70 AD when the Romans cut off the Edomites.
God declares the great day of the Lord is coming against all Nations. Though Judah and Israel face many hardships, they will be restored.
Something to think about:
When the Edomites were feeling arrogant, how did they treat others? Horribly! They felt entitled to the possessions of others. They felt entitled to the respect of others. When In conflict with others, do you feel arrogant? Do you feel you are right and they are wrong? Did you ever stop and think how arrogant your thought processes might come across to God? Do you find yourself feeling entitled to their respect. Are you more self focused while demanding or expecting from others and even from God? Think about it. Because we are Christians we conclude we’re not supposed to suffer and we feel entitled to a life full of NO problems, NO trials, and NO tribulations. THE VERY THING WE ARE FIGHTING AGAINST, IS THE VERY THING THAT GOD USES TO BUILD OUR CHARACTER AND CONFORM US MORE AND MORE INTO THE IMAGE OF CHRIST.
Instead, we demand from God what he’s supposed to do for us. Please never forget how much God loves you and cares about you. When you are in the darkest place, HE is with you. Never give up.
