Read Nahum Chapter 3
Your Outcome Is Devastating and Horrifying!
Because of Nineveh’s arrogance and sin, they faced complete annihilation from God. They have been devastated to utter destruction. You get a visual of the noise of whips, chariots all over the place, horseman charging, swords flashing, spears gleaming, fire consuming, people being cut down, and countless dead bodies. Verse 19 says “there is NO RELIEF for their breakdown and their wounds are INCURABLE.”
Can you imagine having been there when all of this was going on? Words can’t describe just how horrifying it really was. Can you imagine the fear that would grip you along with the pain that just seemed would never stop. Yet, Nineveh was warned. They chose not to repent of their sins. They chose to be arrogant and self-reliant and not rely on the Lord God.
But wait a minute! We too are warned because of our sin problem which has separated us from God. We face a horrifying death in hell unless we deal with our sin problem. God sent his son Jesus to Earth to take on our punishment, and to shed his blood for the forgiveness of our sins. To reject Jesus is to reject the forgiveness of our sin, resulting in the consequences of a horrifying and devastating outcome in the Lake of Fire called hell. So please, don’t be like Nineveh and refuse to repent of your sins, and don’t choose to be arrogant and self-reliant for your life. Instead, Repent and Follow Jesus, then receive eternal life in heaven.
These are just some of the words the Bible speaks about hell:
“And the smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. There is no relief! Everlasting destruction. A place where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth. For the fire never goes out.”
Perhaps God is knocking on the door of your heart because he does not wish to see you perish in hell. Respond to his nudging for He has a call on your life. Surrender Your heart. Repent of your sin. And follow Jesus into a new and transformed life!
