Read Nahum Chapter 2
To Win The Battles Of Life Requires Putting On The Full Armor Of God.
Nineveh, once had an army that could not be defeated. But now the Lord and all his heavenly hosts are against Nineveh. There is no power and certainly no defense that can defeat the Lord God Almighty. God’s goal was to restore Israel back into relationship with him. In doing so, Israel’s greatest enemy was defeated by God.
What is your Nineveh? What is it that keeps coming against you and putting you down, and hurting your relationship with the Lord God Almighty? What steps can you take to have victory and be connected to the Lord God in fullness?
The enemy, Nineveh, was defeated by a well prepared army. They had all the weapons, they were well trained, and had a great skill level. But their greatest asset was they had the Lord God on their side. Your greatest weapon is the Lord God Almighty. Your greatest training is learning to put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-17). In doing so, you are able to stand against the devil’s schemes and all his attacks. We are reminded that our battle is not against flesh and blood, that which we can see. The real battle is what’s going on in the spiritual dimension that is influencing people to react in wickedness or react by the influence of the Holy Spirit.
Personally, I want to enter every battle in life grounded in Christ and his power and not on my own power. When I take control, I’m often influenced by my selfishness, my emotions of fear, anger, bitterness, and hatredness. When I’m in control, I give the devil a foothold in my heart and nothing good comes from that.
God, empower me through your word and through the help of your people, the church, so I can stand against the devil and all his attacks. Empower me to victory. May we remember these words from Romans 8:31 – if God is for us, who can be against us?
