Read Matthew Chapter 28:19a
“As You Are Going Be Making Disciples… “
It’s already been established in verse 18 that Jesus has all the power and authority and he sends us to go out and make disciples of all nations. And we operate under the Authority and Power of the Holy Spirit.
The Greek word for GO, and the Greek word for MAKE DISCIPLES, actually can be translated, “As you are going, be making disciples of all Nations…” This is powerful because to say, “Go Make Disciples” gives the impression that it’s something you turn on and off. For example, “On Tuesday, I’m going to go out and make disciples from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m..” Whereas, reading it in this manner, “As you are going, be making disciples,” implies that as you are going in your everyday life, you should be living in such a manner that it promotes Christ to those around you. And we should take advantage of every opportunity to be making disciples. People should see Christ in us in our everyday life so that it challenges their hearts when they see Christ in us. We may not even have to say anything. But we definitely should be open to the Holy Spirit at all times to speak about Christ in our conversations. Lord help us all to take advantage of every opportunity to exemplify Christ through our words and our actions so that others might know you, and others might grow in their faith because of your words and actions through us.
Can you imagine how our lives would be different if we really implemented this in our everyday life? Instead of going to the grocery store to get a few groceries, we are going with an open heart to be making disciples! We have this heart that says, “Lord, use me somehow to impact a life as I’m going to the store. Give me your power and authority to speak the words and live out the actions you have for me. Can you imagine what conversations could result into the friend you bump into who is a Christian or who is not a Christian? Think of the testimony God might give you to share with your non-Christian friend, or the question you might ask your Christian friend about their time with the Lord. These little things could result in life-changing experiences.
CHALLENGE: As you are GOING today, pray God would speak to your spirit and show you an opportunity where you can invest into a life and even have a conversation about Jesus.” Lord, help me!
