You Just Don’t Get It, Do You? You Don’t Understand Scripture Nor Its Power!
The Sadducees also questioned Jesus to try and make him look bad. They asked him a question regarding the Resurrection of the Dead. This is ironic because they didn’t believe in the Resurrection of the Dead. So why ask it? The intent of the question had nothing to do with finding truth. They felt their question would stump Jesus. That it would silence him.
Their question was based on what Moses had said in Deuteronomy 25:5.
Jesus, the law of Moses says, “If a man dies, having no children, his brother as next of kin, shall marry his wife and raise up an offspring to his brother.”
So Jesus, there were seven brothers with us; and the first married and died, and having no offspring left his wife to his brother; who also died with no children so that the next brother married her. Sadly this happened to all seven brothers leaving the woman with no children. Jesus, in the Resurrection of the Dead, to which brother will she become the wife to?
Vs 29: “Jesus answered and said to them, ‘You are mistaken. You do not understand the Scriptures or the power of God.’ ” In essence, Jesus was saying, if you understood God’s power you would know God is able to raise people from the dead. And if you understood the Scriptures you would know that God will raise the Dead. And when he does raise people from the dead there is no marriage in heaven. They are like angels in heaven.
Like the Sadducees, we can’t look at heaven as if it’s going to be similar to the ways of the Earth.
The joys of Heaven will exceed the joys of earth. The joys we experience in marriages on Earth, such as beautiful conversations, sitting with your loved one, a romantic night out, or the sexual pleasures, all will fall short of the joys planned for us in heaven. There is no marriages in heaven except the marriage of the church with Christ. And these joys will far exceed the joys of any marriage we could ever experience on earth.
Honestly, life is filled with hardships. There is great hope in knowing that those who are in Christ will be raised from the dead and enter into heaven. A place where there are no more hardships but a life filled with JOYS that far exceeds anything we will ever ever ever experience on earth.
HEAVEN? You’ll want to be there!!!!
