Read Matthew Chapter 10:24-33
You Choose: Fear God or Fear Man.
Vs 24 says a disciple is not above his teacher. So the disciple of Jesus is not above Jesus meaning however Jesus was treated is how we will be treated also. Jesus uses the example that if a leader of a household is persecuted so will the members of his household. So we, who are part of the household of Jesus will be treated as he was.
But Jesus makes it very clear that we are not to fear what man can do to us. People will do evil to the innocent and try and cover it up, and may even get away with it on Earth, but the Lord says when they stand before God every hidden thing will be uncovered and God will deal with them justly. So don’t let the fear keep you from living out your faith to the fullest. Jesus said do not fear man because they can destroy your body but instead fear God who can destroy both our body and our soul in hell. The fear of people should not prevail over our fear of God.
Vs 29-31, Jesus says we are valuable to him. He loves us. He’s aware of everything we are going through. He will take care of us even when death is upon us. So let us confess the Lord to the very bitter end of our lives instead of denying the Lord before others. Vs 32 and 33, Jesus says, “Everyone, therefore, who shall confess me before humankind, I will also confess them before my father who is in heaven. But whoever shall deny me before humankind, I will also deny them before my father who is in heaven.”
I confess, Lord, that sometimes I fear man over you. Empower me with your Holy Spirit so that I will always stand up for you and never deny you. Lord help us all to quit thinking that this life on Earth is all we have to live for. Help us realize that our life on Earth should be all about You!!! Help us make the right choice: to confess you before others instead of denying you before others.
