Read Matthew 9:35-38
I Can’t Believe How Many People Need Jesus!
And Jesus was going about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.”
I think it goes without saying that Jesus was busy and perhaps overwhelmed. His schedule was full. Think of one of your busy weeks or busy schedules. It’s crazy, isn’t it? But what kept Jesus going?
1. Vs 36 says, “Jesus felt compassion for them because they were distressed and downcast like sheep without a shepherd.” May we have that same kind of compassion for others.
2. Because the needs were great! In verse 37, Jesus says, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.” Therefore Jesus said to “Deomai” (beseech, pray, beg) to the Lord to “end out workers into his harvest.”
Are we so busy with our schedule that we don’t have time to minister to those around us? Perhaps we lack compassion for the lost and hurting. Perhaps we don’t see just how plentiful the harvest really is because we are so busy with our schedule.
MAY THIS BE OUR PRAYER: Lord, help me incorporate my faith within my everyday interaction with those around me. Give me a Heart of Compassion so I am not so focused on myself that I miss opportunities to love on others. And help me be one of the “workers for the harvest.” And I “Deomai” (beseech, pray, beg) for more workers / Christian to step up and say, “Use Me Lord!”
