Read Matthew 8:1-13
Where Does My Faith Start And Where Does It End?
Matthew 5 through Matthew 7 was called the Sermon On The Mountain where a multitude of people came and listened. When Jesus finished and came down from the mountain two people approached him with needs.
1. First came a leper who bowed down to Jesus saying, “Lord, if you are willing you can make me clean.” Jesus replied that he was willing and cleansed/healed him.
2. A non Jew, a centurion, came to Jesus and entreated him because his servant was lying paralyzed and in great pain. Jesus said, “I’ll come and heal him.” The centurion showed great faith and told Jesus that he was not worthy to have Jesus in his home. He recognized the authority of Jesus and said just give the word and I’ll believe in the healing. Sure enough, his servant was healed.
Jesus marveled at the Non-Jews faith, then reprimanded the Jews saying, there will be many people who will travel from non-Jewish areas who will have faith and will reap the reward of their faith in heaven. But said, there will be many Jews who think they will enter Heaven just because they are Jews but will instead be cast into outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth because of their lack of faith.
Do you understand the authority of Jesus? Do you understand the power of faith for salvation? Are you seeking Jesus today for any needs physically, spiritually, mentally, emotionally for you or someone else?
Do you have faith? Where does your faith start and where does it end?
Do you have faith when God is doing what you ask of him? That’s easy!
Do you still have faith when things don’t go as you ask of God? Do you still believe he’s on the throne and in control? Yes, believe in miracles but don’t let the truth of God be defined based upon whether or not he answers your prayers the way you want him to.
God, I pray you help me have faith when things are going really really well, but may I equally have faith that you are God when things aren’t going well at all from my perspective. May my trust and faith go beyond my understanding of the situation!
