How Much More Proof Do You Need That Jesus Is The Messiah?
Verse 16 says, When evening came, many who were demons possessed were brought to Jesus. He drove out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick. Why? Verse 17 says, in order to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah in Isaiah 53, where it says, he took up all our infirmities and healed all our diseases.
Jesus is the fulfillment of Isaiah 52:13 through 53:12. Several New Testament passages quote several verses in this Old Testament passage (Luke 22:37, Matthew 8:4-5, John 12:38, Hebrews 9:28, and 1st Peter 2: 22-25). And there’s actually other passages that speak of the healing of Christ for our physical, spiritual and mental bodies. This passage is just one small piece of the puzzle giving evidence that Jesus is the Messiah coming to save people of their sins along with ultimate healing in their broken hearts, and their physical bodies.
This is the Hope for today. Our time on Earth is so very temporary compared to eternity. A real home awaits us in heaven for those who choose Jesus for the healer of all sin and the consequences of sin. He is our hope for today while we live on earth and is our hope for the coming day when we will see him in heaven. What this Earth has to offer is like garbage when compared to the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus Christ Our Lord (Philippians 3:8). So let go of the garbage of this world and pursue all you can to know Christ, the fullness of Christ!!!!
