Read Matthew 6:25-34
FINALLY!!!!! A Cure For Anxiety!
Jesus says to not be anxious for your life as to what you will eat, drink, or wear. He says our life is worth more than just food and clothing.
He makes this point by saying, the Lord takes care of the birds when they need something to eat and God adorns the fields with beautiful Lilies. If he’s willing to do that for birds and Fields, think how much more he’s willing to meet our needs.
What does worry accomplish? Does it add a second to your life, Jesus asked! No! If anything it adds stress to your life and stress only wears the body down, which takes time off of our body.
In verse 30, Jesus confronts the believers by saying they act just like non-believers who worry about everything, and operate with little or no faith. He says we as believers should be better than that. We should be able to acknowledge every morning we get up, “Thank you God that you take care of me and have my life under control.”
The Lord gives us an alternative to worry. The two greatest things we could do are:
1. Seek First The Kingdom Of God: In other words, there’s nothing more important than the kingdom of God. This means every decision we make or action we take we should want to align with God’s heart so we can impact God’s kingdom.
2. Seek First His Righteousness. Seeking God’s righteousness is what we are to clothe ourselves with. Galatians 3:26-27 says, “You are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus for all of you who are baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. The clothing of Christ is righteousness [Isaiah 61:10 and Revelation 19:6-8]. The only clothing we should be worried about is being clothed in the righteousness of Christ. In essence, we should be consumed with the things of the Lord and not things of this Earth. And when we do that, Jesus says, the needs of the earth will be taken care of.
CHALLENGE: Every time you become anxious and worry, or fear, stop and take time to thank God that he is in control and trust that what you are going through will only further his kingdom in some way.
Plus focus on being a man or woman of God, a person of righteous integrity. Do these two things and you will see your needs being taken care of.
