Peacemakers Eliminate The Turmoil Of Life.
“Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall be called sons of God.”
The Greek word for peacemaker is ” iraynopoyos” which means to make peace or to reconcile. It’s not talking about those who learn to live in peace, but rather those who bring that peace into the lives of others. Now when that happens, the end result is helping others learn to live in peace. But the peacemakers who are called sons of God are those who take that peace to the world.
Being a peacemaker is more than stopping a feud. It’s bringing the peace of God into the life of another so they can live in chaotic situations, or in situations they can’t control.
“they shall be called ‘sons of God.'” The reward of a peacemaker is they are recognized as true children of God.
My dad, as he was dying with cancer, found true peace with God. Through the love of family members he was able to find Christ for his life. He had no inner turmoil as he recognized death was just around the corner. He said, “I do not fear death, in fact I welcome it.” Family members were the peacemakers who shared Jesus. My dad was set free of that inner turmoil that comes from the uncertainties of life.
Another family member, as he was dying with cancer, had so much inner turmoil. He feared death. He was uncertain of his final destination. It was hard for him to grasp and understand the love of Christ presented to him.
Being a peacemaker comes in many different ways. Bringing true peace means eliminating that inner turmoil. It’s a confidence that everything will be okay. It’s a reconciliation, first, between you and God (repentance); and second, between you and another person. It eliminates hate, bitterness, unforgiveness, gossip, strife, etc.
The one who brings that peace to a person’s life is one who brings Jesus to them for Jesus is our true peace maker. He alone can take away the inner turmoil of our life circumstances. Are you living in that peace that comes from Jesus? Are you sharing that peace with others? Be a true peacemaker!
