Read Matthew 27:52-54
That Was Unique And Extraordinary!
Yesterday I asked what happened after Jesus died on the cross? We mentioned:
1. The Earth shook and rocks were split.
2. The veil in the temple to the entrance of the Holy of Holies, was split in two.
The third thing that happened was, The tombs of many of the saints were opened of those who had fallen asleep (who were dead). But they didn’t come out of their tombs until after the resurrection of Jesus’s body. It was then that they went to the city of Jerusalem and appeared to many. What a great object lesson for the people in Jerusalem to see what the resurrection power of Jesus looks like. People are raised from the dead.
We all are dead in our sins, destined to hell, but the resurrection power of Jesus makes us alive again as a new person in Christ. And if we are in Christ, when we die, it’s not the end! It’s as if we are temporarily sleeping until the day our bodies are raised up to be with the Lord forever in heaven. This is the Hope we have in Jesus!
The centurion and all those who kept guard over Jesus, when they saw all that had happened, they were frightened and said, “Truly this was the Son of God!” It was obvious to the Romans, after seeing all that had happened, that Jesus was the Son Of God, the Messiah. What they saw doesn’t happen every day! These guards see crucifixions all the time. This one was very UNIQUE and EXTRAORDINARY!
We as Christians should be UNIQUE and EXTRAORDINARY! We shouldn’t approach life with a lot of complaining, and worrying, and being a “Debbie Downer.” No one wants to be around people like that. Instead we should walk in the power of the Holy Spirit who has resurrected our bodies that were dead in sin. The Holy Spirit makes us alive in Christ. Life to us should be seen with rejoicing and hope. We shouldn’t be a Debbie Downer but we should be encouragers that speak life into others. May our lives be different than the worlds. May people want what they see in us versus wanting to see us leave. Be UNIQUE and EXTRAORDINARY for JESUS.
