Let’s Be Sneaky About It So No One Notices.
After Jesus spoke of his future return to Earth, he spoke of his coming crucifixion. In the meantime, the chief priests and elders have gathered together and they plot “to seize Jesus by STEALTH and then kill him.” STEALTH means: to do so quietly and carefully so no one notices.
You have God whose plan was for Jesus to come to Earth, be handed over to the religious leaders, and die for our sins.
You have Jesus who has been talking about his coming crucifixion and being handed over to the religious leaders. Both God and Jesus are very well aware of what’s happening behind the scenes.
Then we have the religious leaders wanting to seize Jesus by STEALTH. I find this humorous. It’s like a person setting out to rob a home by STEALTH. He’s being all sneaky about it and thinking no one is aware of his actions. In the meantime, you have the whole police force watching his every movement, by surveillance, ready to arrest the guy as soon as he opens the window.
We have the religious leaders trying to be sneaky while the whole time God and Jesus know what they are up to. I wonder how much of our decisions we make every day are done by STEALTH? We’re being sneaky and quiet trying to hide certain actions, thinking nobody has a clue what we’re doing. Meanwhile, we have a loving Father watching our every move, very aware of our every thought, action, and motive.
What do we watch when no one’s around? What do we listen to that we don’t want others to know about? What are we looking at which we know is inappropriate? What relationships are we in that are toxic? They don’t help point us to Jesus but actually draw us further away from him?
What skeletons or sins are we hiding in our closet? God is knocking on the door of your heart to turn it over to him because he wants to give you freedom. He’s watching your every STEALTHY move, not so he can pounce on you, but so that he can set you free. Turn over that which nobody knows about, to the Lord who already knows about it.
