Read Matthew 25:31-46
How Do You Treat The Most Insignificant Person?
When Jesus returns to earth, soon his judgment will follow thereafter.
1. He will sit on his glorious throne, a place of ultimate power and authority. What he says will be. There’s no debate like we do with our parents or authority figures. His decision is final. You don’t get a second chance. There’s no opportunity for extra credit. How you live your life on this Earth determines where you spend eternity.
2. All Nations will be gathered before the Lord and then each person will be separated with the righteous on the right and the unrighteous on the left. No one is exempt from standing before the Lord on Judgment Day.
3. To the righteous, Jesus will say, “Come you who are blessed by my father. Take your inheritance the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.” Why do they get to enter into the kingdom of heaven? Obviously because of their faith in Jesus. But also because their faith was demonstrated on how they treated other people: the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and those in prison.
4. To the unrighteous he says, “Depart from me you who are cursed into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels.” Why? Because they did not have faith in Jesus, nor did they walk in humility before the Lord, but arrogance. They did not reach out to those who were in need.
5. Jesus said that whatever you do to the least of these, you’re really doing it to him. And whatever you don’t do to the least of these, you don’t do it to him. The person who understands humility will see others as if they are Jesus, and because of their humility, they are not afraid to serve others.
But the person who walks in arrogance, is unwilling to look at others with significance. They see them as being insignificant and not worthy of their time. They are ignored, overlooked, ridiculed, put down.
Next time you see somebody in need, see them as significant. See them as Jesus. And then respond!
