Do You INVEST Or Make EXCUSES?
Knowing Jesus’s return is forthcoming should motivate us to utilize the gifts and talents he has given us for his glory. Jesus uses a parable to bring this truth to life.
A master gave three slaves three different weights of money and were to do something with it. Two of the slaves invested and managed what was given them and as a result doubled the amount they were given. They were proactive to improve their situation and circumstances. They invested their gift and it grew. Success was the fruit of their labor and investment. And their masters response was well done good and faithful servants enter into the joy of your master.
The third slave did nothing. He hid his gift by burying it. Then when he stood before his master he made excuses. His master responded by calling him a wicked and lazy servant, then cast him into the outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
What gifts and talents has God given you? Is it money? A home or a car? Material things? Wisdom and knowledge? A job? A place of authority? And the list goes on. What are you doing with what God has given you? How much time do you invest in them? What are the excuses you use to justify your laziness or lack of investment? What are the excuses you use for your lack of perseverance? Seriously, what are your excuses? If God gives you something, then he will enable you to grow and mature with the gifts he has given you. We have to rely on him and not ourselves. You can’t let excuses hold you back. Doing NOTHING is not an option. Doing NOTHING means eventually you lose it. At some point, you have to make a decision: Do NOTHING or INVEST A LOT of time and energy. It may mean watching less TV or YouTube, giving up certain pleasures, making a time management plan, or persevering through the challenges that you face daily. The challenges could be lack of confidence, bad weather, fear, lack of support, etc.
Define your gifts. Lay them before the Lord. Ask God how he would want you to use them for his glory. Become proactive and move forward letting nothing stop you. NOTHING is not an option. EXCUSES are not justifiable.
