Read Matthew 24:36-41
Lord, I’ll Do Whatever You Ask Me To Do!
As Jesus was speaking of the day he would return to Earth for the church, he says in verse 36, the day and hour of his return “no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
Throughout Jesus’s ministry, he has been obedient to his Father’s commands and wishes (John 5:19, Philippians 2:6-11). For example, Jesus left his throne of royalty, emptied himself so that he became just like a human being. But he emptied himself even beyond that so that he became a servant. He was obedient to the Father when he called him to Earth as a baby and to die for the sins of the world. Jesus joyfully obeyed and went to the cross. And Jesus will continue his acts of obedience to the Father when he says it is time to return to Earth.
Every act of obedience Jesus did, God had a purpose behind them (even though some were very, very, very, very difficult). It always resulted in being a blessing and bringing glory to the Lord.
May we be obedient to the Lord always for the call that he has in our lives. May we never forget, God has a purpose behind the call he has for us. We may not know the end result, and the call may be very very difficult, but when he calls us he never leaves us nor forsakes us. He prepares the way. He goes with us. Anxiety and fear may fall upon us, but God is faithful and he will give us victory to accomplish what he has laid before us. May we be faithful to his call. May we be obedient! May we persevere and be steadfast knowing a blessing awaits us. The blessing may be that we are conformed more and more into the image of Christ. The blessing may relate to friendships or relationships. The blessing may be a material or financial blessing. It may be emotional or mental healing. We may be inspired, or experience a spiritual transformation. Whatever the blessing is, it brings glory to God and it does conform us more and more into the image of Christ. Be faithful. Be obedient. Persevere. Be steadfast. Don’t give up. Rely on the Holy Spirit.
