Read Matthew 24:3-5
Don’t Be Misled!!
While Jesus and his disciples were at the Mount of Olives, his disciples came and asked Jesus, “What will be the signs of your coming, and the end of the age?” Matthew 24 and Revelation 6 both address the same exact signs that Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24.
First Sign: Jesus said that many will come claiming to be the Christ and will mislead many. Jesus warned, “See to it that no one misleads you!”
The question I have is how can someone be misled into believing someone who claims to be the Christ?!? Hearing such claims should automatically put up red flags for us. Why? Because the Scriptures warn us not to believe such claims. When Jesus comes, it will be to gather the church followed by his judgment. When he comes back he’s not going to hang out with us for a while. Plus the false Christ will focus on deception in leading others away from the Lord God. Once something contradicts Scriptures we know it’s of the devil and not from God. If we know the Scriptures, then we’ll be able to discern a false teaching from the truths found in God’s Word.
So why will people be easily misled? Because they won’t know the Scriptures. They may claim to have faith, but will be ignorant of God’s word.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 speaks of the last days when people will live in sin while claiming to be of the faith. They will have the appearance of godliness, but are wicked and their faith has no power plus they deny the power God. In other words, the Holy Spirit is not leading them but rather they are led by their own inner lusts.
Jesus said do not be misled. May this be our desire:
1. Make Jesus your Lord and Savior.
2. Make it a priority to be in God’s word DAILY!!!!!
3. Be filled and empowered by the Holy Spirit for it is then that people will see the works of God in and through our lives.
4. It is then that we can impact lives for the Kingdom of God and for His Glory.
