Read Matthew 24:29-31
Christ’s Return: It Will Be A Surprise But It Shouldn’t Be.
These three verses speak of the day when Jesus will return for his church. All these verses are fulfillment of several Scriptures that speak of this glorious event. There are several verses that allude to the coming of Christ. So much so, that people will be surprised when it comes but they shouldn’t be.
Jesus said his return will be immediately after the tribulation of those days. He quotes Isaiah 13:10 which gives a description of what it will be like when he returns. “The Sun will be darkened and the Moon will not give light and the Stars will fall from the sky.”
And then Jesus says the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the tribes of the Earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great Glory (thus fulfilling the prophecy found in Daniel 7:13).
Vs 31: This verse speaks of the coming of Jesus with his angels, and the trumpet call, and the gathering of the church. This prophecy of the coming event is found throughout Scripture! So his coming for the church, followed by judgment, should not be of any surprise, although people will be. We should all anticipate His coming. We should all be ready for his return. We will be in the presence of the Lord in heaven. There will be no more death, mourning, crying, or pain. All the pain we experience on Earth will no longer be. Heaven will be truly a wonderful place that words cannot describe. It’s the hope for our lives now and for eternity. Give him your whole life today and be ready for eternity.
