Read Matthew 24:23-28
Ready Or Not, Here I Come!
During the days of the Abomination Desolation, false Christs and false prophets will rise up. They will show great signs and wonders, so as to mislead people from the Lord, including even the elect (referring to the more mature Christians).
Jesus says, “Behold, I have told you in advance.” In other words, you won’t have any excuse to fall for those false claims and false teachings and wonders. Don’t fall for those who say, “Christ is here!” Because when Christ does come it will be like lightning flashing in the sky. He’ll come back quick and he’ll leave that quick, and the dead in Christ and the Christians who are still alive, will be gathered up together with the Lord. It will all happen in the “twinkling of an eye” Then the Lord’s judgment will soon follow.
Vs 28 says, “Wherever the corpse is, there the vultures / eagles follow.” Because verse 28 follows the verse on the return of Jesus, I’m assuming that the corpse represents those who are dead in Christ, who have been misled from the truth of God’s word. And those dead in Christ will face the vultures or eagles, representing the final judgment.
This passage is one more reminder to be invested into God’s word daily so as not to be deceived or misled from God’s truth. And may we be ready for the true coming of Christ when he does return for his church, his followers. We don’t know the day or hour the Lord will return, so just be ready. One day, whether we’re ready or not, Christ will return. He calls us to be ready. Are you?
