Read Matthew 24:15-22
Run and Run Hard.
Verse 15 starts out with “Therefore” when you see all the destruction that will occur as mentioned in the previous verses and found in the Book of Daniel, then one needs to take action -“then those in Judea should flee.” There are very different interpretations on what this passage is referring to. Many feel it refers to the destruction of the temple in 70 AD. Some feel that was only a partial fulfillment of this passage. Some feel the fulfillment of this passage is yet to come. Sadly, I’m not smart enough to debate this. So I go with what I do know, the ABOMINATION DESOLATION isn’t going to be pretty. Abomination is that which is totally EVIL or Vile and desolation refers to total destruction of something.
Jesus said that when the abomination desolation comes, then we are to FLEE, or as I put it, run and run hard and never look back. Get away as fast as you can.
Because when the desolation occurs, those who did not flee will be destroyed with it. Eventually there’s going to be a great tribulation, such has not occurred before nor ever will. When it comes no life will be saved except the “elected ones.” Perhaps they’re referring to some of God’s people.
A key word for me is “FLEE.” It’s this word I want to live out in my life. Whether it be temptations, or the desire to fit in, or an outright attack from the devil to destroy me, I want to flee from it and do what James commands in James 4:7-8. It says we are to Submit ourselves to God. Flee from the Devil and Draw near to God. It’s not enough to just to flee from evil if you’re not drawing near to God. To just flee keeps yourself susceptible to ongoing attacks from the devil. It’s only a matter of time till he wears you down. To draw near to God is to draw from the power of God which is needed to overcome the temptations or flesh desires. Don’t just flee but draw near to God so you can draw from his Word, his Power, and have Victory.
