Read Matthew 23:37-39
Let Jesus Gather You In His Arms!
Jesus sees the sad state of Jerusalem and comments on how they have killed the prophets and messengers of God. He comments on how many times he has wanted to gather them together in his arms like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings. But they were UNWILLING. If we could just understand how much God really loves us so that our hearts completely open to receive him rather than reject him.
Because Jerusalem has rejected him, Jesus says, “Behold, your home is being left to you desolate.”
Think about it, a place without Jesus is an empty, dark, dead, and desolate place! Because of Jerusalem’s stubbornness and unfaithfulness Jesus says from now on you won’t see me until you say, “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” Jesus is referring to his second coming – the day of judgment.
Have you ever lived in a state of darkness feeling lost, broken, and maybe even desolate inside? We often feel like that when we are walking in disobedience to the Lord. Think of living a life without Christ till death. It’s a dark thought. This dark and empty life on Earth will become our eternity only so much worse. The darkness we experience will be added with a lake of fire for eternity. Please, Jesus is wanting to gather Us in his arms so we can experience life and restoration and healing in our hearts. Don’t be “unwilling” to go to the Lord in fullness lest you die in your darkness to complete desolation. Lord help me to stay faithful to you at all times. Forgive me when I fail. Break me when I’m stubborn.
