Read Matthew 22:41-46
Choose Today Who You Will Serve.
41 Now while the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them a question, 42 saying, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” 43 He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying, 44 “‘The Lord said to my lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’? 45 If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?” 46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.
Jesus asked this question to bring to light that Christ was more than just from the lineage of King David. Christ is the son of God. He is Lord and therefore Lord over King David. He is Lord over all creation for he is the creator himself.
Like the Pharisees, we have to decide who Jesus is to us. Is he the son of God? Is he Lord over us? More importantly, have you made him Lord over your life? Is everything you say and do all about pleasing the Lord, 100%? Sadly, are you trying to be Lord of your own life? Or are you making things of this world Lord of your life?
We all better come to grips with how we answer these questions because they have eternal implications. Like Joshua said to the Israelites: “Choose this day whom you will serve! Like Joshua, may we also say, “I will SERVE the Lord!”
