Are You Trying To Silence Me?
In this passage, the Sadducees wanted to try and silence Jesus with a question they felt was unanswerable. But Jesus answered it, while telling them they did not understand Scripture nor the power of God.
In today’s world, there are still people who do not understand the Scriptures nor do they understand the power of God. As a result, they ask questions. This is good when people ask questions. But sometimes they ask it, not because they’re seeking truth, but rather as an excuse to not believe in God. They ask it with the intent to silence us in order to support their anti-God position.
I was thinking of a question that seems to be asked a lot, sometimes with good intentions, sometimes with the intent to silence us:
“If God is a loving God, why does he send people to hell?”
If we understood the Scriptures, we know that our sin and disobedience is what sends us to hell. If we understood the power of God, we know that his love is what took Jesus to the cross taking our punishment upon himself so we wouldn’t have to go to hell but could have eternal life in heaven with him. God’s Wrath, Death and Hell, are the natural consequences of our sin. His love is the Hope for eternal life saving us from hell. True love is what saves sinners from what they deserve – Hell! It starts with a relationship with Jesus who removes our sins and makes us holy in God’s sight.

John 3:36 “Whoever believes in the Son of God has eternal life. But whoever REJECTS Jesus does not have life because God’s wrath remains on them.”
