Read Matthew 18:7-11
Cut It Out!
Jesus says, “Woe” twice. This is a harsh word and it means beware because God’s judgment is at hand and it’s nothing to play with.
First, Jesus says, “Woe to the world because of it’s stumbling blocks.” God cannot tolerate anything that causes others to stumble, or interfere, or break the relationship that he has with his children. Stumbling blocks are defined as that which influences us away from God’s truth. Jesus says that such stumbling blocks are “inevitable.” It means they will come!!!! That’s life!!!! That’s our everyday life!!! Satan and his angels are always at work to cause us to stumble and break us away from God’s truth.
Second, Jesus says, “Woe to that person through whom the stumbling blocks come.” God help me if I am that stumbling block. Save me from the Judgment that awaits me. Help me stay grounded in your truth and continue to promote your truth.
As followers of Christ we have the responsibility to “cut off” any and everything that is a stumbling block to us. If a relationship is spiritually toxic, and has become a stumbling block, then “cut it out.” Break away from it. If Satan is speaking lies to you, then “cut it out.” Cut out the lies. Don’t listen. Surround yourself with God’s truth, God’s word, with Godly people. Stumbling from God’s truth so that you are not walking in God’s truth, or you have abandoned God’s truth, is nothing to play with!! Jesus said, spending eternity in hell is nothing to play with and you do whatever is necessary to “cut out” or “cut off” that which is causing you to stumble or break away from God’s truth. What is your current life circumstances? What is it God is calling you to do in order to be walking in his truth rather than walking in death. Jesus is here to save you don’t Cut Him Out.
