Read Matthew 18:15-17
I Didn’t Do Anything Wrong!
I wonder if we were really honest with ourselves before God, I mean really honest, if we could find areas in our lives that need to be CONFESSED, REPENTED from, and SURRENDERED to God so we can be HOLY before Him?
It is God’s desire to have us pure and holy. And he’s willing to do whatever is necessary to help us STOP, CONFESS, REPENT, and SURRENDER our weaknesses to him so we can be HOLY. If we are a follower of Christ, God even calls the Body of Christ to help us have victory over sin.
In verse 15, Jesus says, that if your brother or sister in the Lord sins, and shows no guilt or repentance in their heart, then we are to:
1. Reprove Them In Private. Don’t make a spectacle out of them before others like the Pharisees did with a woman caught in adultery. Instead, have a loving, encouraging, but firm conversation about it with them. If they listen and repent then think how amazing it is because it means that they have been restored back into Holiness before God. However, if they do not listen, then:
2. Take One Or Two Other People With You. Going alone gives a person the ability to say, I haven’t done anything wrong. Or they treat it like it’s no big deal. But if you have one or two other people that go with you, then that can help reinforce just how important it is for your friend to take seriously what they are doing. Hopefully it helps them realize how important it is for them to repent from there sin. But if they don’t listen, then:
3. Take It To The Church. Hopefully your friend can really see just how important repentance really is and get right before God. But if they don’t listen, then:
4. They Are To Be Removed From The Church. This is important because you don’t want them becoming a toxic or poison that infects the Body of Christ. This may sound harsh, but God does not play games. Obedience and Holiness is essential for entering into the kingdom of heaven. And it starts with Christ. May we all come to the point where we realize how poisonous sin is and how it affects our soul and the souls of others. May we all come to the point when we can CONFESS our sin. REPENT from it. SURRENDER it to God and be HOLY again in his sight.
