Why Are You So Negative? Be More Positive!
With the great multitude present, and with Jesus healing so many, it started to get late so Jesus calls his disciples together and says, “I feel compassion for the multitude, because they have remained with me for 3 days and have nothing to eat; I do not want to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”
And the disciples responded by saying, “Where could we get so many loaves in a desolate place to satisfy such a great multitude?”
Wait a minute!!!! Haven’t the disciples been down this road before but with a larger crowd? It wasn’t long ago that there were 5,000 men plus women and children and Jesus said feed them. He did a miracle with five loaves and two fish and fed all of them with 12 basketful of leftovers. The disciples could / should have said, “Jesus, you did a miracle before in the same situation. Today we have seven loaves and a few fish, and we trust you can feed this crowd of 4,000 men plus women and children.”
But no, instead they say, “How are we going to feed them; we don’t have enough food?” And you know what happened, Jesus took what they had and used it to feed everyone present with seven basketful of left overs.
Have you ever been in a predicament and it seemed hopeless, but you saw God work? But then, not much later in life, you find yourself in another predicament that seems hopeless, and your response is, “What am I going to do?” That’s your best response?!?!? Like, did you forget what God did in the last predicament? He intervened and gave a victory!! So why isn’t our response, in a new or similar predicament, “Hey God, I’m in another seemingly hopeless situation. You gave a victory before so I trust you for another victory!”
Why is our first response on the negative and unbelieving side versus having a positive, “God’s Got This” Attitude?
I spoke with a lady who had painful shingles back in July and August. She still has shingles in October and it’s still painful. I told her I’d be praying for God’s intervention. She said, “Pray for more than healing. Pray I please the Lord through this as long as it lasts.”
Wow! I said I wish we all had such a positive attitude as we wait upon the Lord for his miracle.
