Read Mark 8:27-30
Who Do You Say Jesus Is?
As Jesus and his disciples are traveling together, Jesus asked them a question, “Who do people say I am?” Some of their responses were, “John the Baptist,” “Elijah,” “One of the prophets.”
Then Jesus asked them a second question, “Who do you say I am?” Peter responded, “You are the Christ!” Jesus immediately warned them not to tell anyone who he was.
Jesus asked his disciples two questions that we all need to answer.
1. The first question was “Who do people say I am?” Some say he was a good man. A racist. A bigot. A liar. Some say the Son of God, the Messiah, a prophet.
2. The second question Jesus asked is one we will all have to answer and it will determine where we spend eternity. Who do you say Jesus is? To me, Jesus is indescribable for our words will never give the description he deserves. But in essence, to me, Jesus is the son of God, he is God in human form, the creator of all things, he is love and he is our Savior who died for the Forgiveness of our sins. He is all this and so much more, but if I truly believe this, then I will follow him. None of what I believe will mean anything if I don’t demonstrate this belief with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength. My belief should go from an intellectual belief to a heart belief. Our belief should be demonstrated through our behavior.
