Does Anything Astonish Me Anymore?
Jesus traveled from Tyre to another Non-Jewish region called Decapolis. A man was brought to Jesus who was deaf and had a speaking impediment. Those who brought him entreated Jesus to touch him. Jesus pulled the man aside away from the crowd by himself. Jesus put his fingers in his ears and then spit on his fingers and touch the man’s tongue. Then Jesus looked to heaven with a deep sigh, and said to the man “Be opened!” Just then, the man’s ears were opened and the impediment of his tongue was removed and he began to speak plainly. Jesus gave orders not to tell anyone but the miracle was told to many, and many were UTTERLY ASTONISHED.
Jesus does a miracle in a man’s life and people are utterly astonished at what Jesus did. Does the work of the Lord astonish us anymore? I mean, utterly astonish us? Do you see God at work? Do you see God at work in your life? Perhaps we need Jesus to heal our blind eyes so we can see the many blessings God is bestowing upon us.
Less than 2 weeks ago, my niece gave her life to Jesus. I was utterly astonished! Now I’m praying for spiritual growth in her life. I actually hear a lot of testimonies. Some captivate my heart and cause me to be Blown Away by the work of God’s hands. While others, I let slip past me because I’m too busy. I mean, they are nice testimonies but I don’t rejoice or get excited because my heart is someplace else.
Lord, forgive me when I get so captivated with this world that I miss what you are doing all around me. Help me STOP in my daily routines and take notice of the many miracles happening around me and may I rejoice while being utterly astonished, so much so, I share it with others as a testimony of your greatness.
