Read Mark 7:1-13
Our Christian Culture Is Caving To The Lies Of The Devil! Are you?
The Pharisees and some of the scribes gathered around Jesus. They noticed that some of Jesus’ disciples were eating bread with impure hands because they did not wash their hands before eating. Washing before you eat was one of the many traditions passed down by the elders. They were strict about their traditions and confronted Jesus on why his disciples refused to abide by such traditions. Jesus rebuked them saying, “Rightly did Isaiah prophesy of you hypocrites when he wrote: ‘This people honor me with their lips but their hearts are far from me. But in vain do they worship me. Teaching as doctrine the precepts of man.'” As a result, Jesus said, You Preach the traditions of men while you neglect teaching God’s word – His Commandments. In fact, Jesus said, your traditions are so far from God that your teachings make God’s word invalid and no longer relevant.
Do you want to live a life that honors God? Here are two factors we must bring back into our Christian culture:
1. We must live according to God’s word and not the traditions of our world.
2. We must teach and preach God’s word. As Christians we must recognize there is no truth but God’s truth found in his word.
The moment we take even the smallest minute step away from God’s word, is the moment we send the message that God’s Word and Truth are no longer valid for our today’s culture.
For example, the word of God says we are not to be sexually immoral, but instead hold to God’s standard of holiness and abstain from sexual activity except with one’s marriage partner between a man and woman. But our Christian culture neglect this message and live according to that which fulfills their sexual desires and their flesh.
Read 1 Timothy 4:1-5. It says that in the end times some will fall away from their faith. Why? Because they neglect God’s word and pay attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons. They listen to lies of the hypocrites. Sadly, many of these hypocrites are people standing behind our pulpits in the church.
God, forgive me of my sins. Help me to stay locked into your word as the only truth. May I live it as a testimony of your truth, and may I speak it as your truth.
