Read Mark 5:21-24
I Earnestly Entreat You, Jesus!
Jesus and his disciples again crossed over a boat to the other side. And again a great multitude gathered around Jesus on the seashore. A synagogue official, Jairus, came and fell at the feet of Jesus and entreated him earnestly saying, “My little daughter is at the point of death; please come and lay your hands on her that she may get well and live.” Vs 24 says that Jesus went off with him.
Jesus never stops. He’s always at work ministering in people’s lives. I was captivated by the heart of Jairus as he approached Jesus. Five things happened:
1. Jairus approached Jesus.
2. Jairus fell at the feet of Jesus.
3. Jairus earnestly entreated Jesus.
4. Jairus pours his heart out to Jesus with his need.
5. Jesus responds and goes with Jairus.
Whatever in life I am doing, or striving after, or seeking God on, I want to approach God in the same manner as Jairus did in every aspect of my life. Here’s what I’m not saying: I’m not saying this is a formula for getting whatever you want. This is not a potion one uses to fulfill your “WISH LIST.”
To seek God in this manner is a formula in capturing the heart of God. Do you want God to hear and respond, then bring a broken heart before him while seeking him earnestly with all your heart. He will respond. And because God loves us, he will respond with that which will bring glory to his name. Here’s something I have been earnestly praying for, for quite awhile:
I’ve been praying for the start of a new podcast with a friend and it seems we keep running into obstacle after obstacle. I have been praying to God, “God, do I persevere or are you taking me in a different direction?” In my heart I feel God is asking me to “Persevere.” Is it going to happen? I don’t know, but regardless, I have confidence that whether this door opens or not, that the path God does take me on will result in Kingdom building.
Do I really want to do this podcast? Yes! But it’s not my god. My greatest desire is to love God with all my heart, soul, mind, and strength regardless of the outcome, especially the outcome of earthly things.
Jesus, I trust you with my life today and for tomorrow. Thank you for seeing my earnest prayers. Thank you that you are in control. Thank you I can put my trust and confidence in you.
I pray this is the heart of each and every one of us. God will respond!
