Read Mark 4:30-34
God, Empower Me So I Can Play A Part In Building The Kingdom Of God.
Jesus shares a parable about what the Kingdom of God is like. He says the Kingdom of God is like a mustard seed. It’s smaller than all the other seeds, yet when the seed is planted on the soil, it grows up to be larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches. These large branches and leaves act as a place of refuge for the birds to nest under its shade.
The Kingdom of God, though it has started so very small, began to grow as God’s son, Jesus, began to be prophesied, revealed, and known. As God’s people began to share the love of Jesus with others, then we see the Kingdom of God begin to grow. And like birds of the sky, the kingdom of God has become the place of refuge and rest. It has become a place of peace and comfort. It has become a place of redemption and salvation.
People are looking for answers in this world today. People are lost and are hurting and in need of hope. God is calling us, the church, to be the spokesperson who will share the love of Jesus with others so they can find hope, redemption, rest, peace, comfort, and salvation. May we be faithful in sharing Jesus so people can find and receive Jesus into their lives resulting in the Kingdom of God growing.
God, give me that evangelistic mind and heart. Give me opportunities to help point people to Jesus. May you find me, and the church, faithful in sharing the love of Jesus with others! Amen.
