Wow, Did I Do That?

Jesus told two parables of what the kingdom of God is like. The first parable was THE PARABLE OF THE SEED.

• A man cast seed upon the soil.
• The man goes to bed at night.
• In the meantime, the seed sprouts up and grows.
• The man doesn’t understand how it works.
• The soil produces the crops by itself until it reaches full maturity.
• When the crop is ready for harvest, the man puts a sickle to it and gathers it all together.

So how does this parable relate to the Kingdom of God?

• Just as the man planted the seed upon the soil, so God is looking for WILLING HEARTS who will preach God’s word to those around them.
• Trust me on this, who God uses has nothing to do with race, gender, ones IQ, one’s physical capabilities, one’s ability to speak clearly, or how popular one is. God is looking for a WILLING HEART who will take His word to a lost world.
• We can share God’s word through our deeds and through our words.
• When we are faithful in sharing God’s word, he is faithful to take what was said or done and use it for his purpose. Isaiah 55:11 says when God’s word goes out “It will not return to him void but will accomplish what he desires and achieve the purpose for which he sent it.” In other words, if we are faithful in sharing God’s word, he will be faithful to use what we say and do. Let us find comfort in this so that we don’t let the enemy overwhelm us with fear and prevent us from sharing God’s word.
• When we see lives impacted because of our obedience, we don’t understand how it works. But let us be careful so that we don’t say, “Wow, did I do that?” Instead, we should say, “Wow, look at what God did.” 1 Corinthians 6:3, Paul says that it’s God who causes growth in people’s lives. Yes, he’s looking for the church, believers in Christ, who are willing to share His word, but it’s God who uses us, and it’s God who changes lives, so it is God who should get the glory and not us.

How exciting it will be to one day see those in the Kingdom of God because we were willing to be used by God.
